For each article submit a journal summary. Below is an extract from the syllabus stating what is expected in a journal summary: Journal Summary/Overview Doctoral students will lead class discussions of assigned readings. You are expected to critically read each article, some articles may require you to dig into the material deeply. All students are expected to participate in discussions. At least two students will be selected each week to lead discussions. You are required to write a journal summary/overview for each article that you are assigned. The summary for each article is not to exceed 1.5 pages per article (single-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman). Please write your summaries to “tell a story,” grammar counts! For each article enter an APA compliant citation to head your summary. At a minimum you are to identify and discuss via keywords the following: Concept-related Papers objective of paper brief description of main concept/methodology main applications of method/technique key assumptions potential effects of violating assumptions key take-aways Discipline-specific Research Papers objective of paper methodology used key assumptions summary of study highlights critique of study limitations of study suggest a follow-on study (address the “so what” and “who cares” factors) Briefly address the following questions in each research paper summary: (1) what is the role & type of data analytics (DA) used? (2) is DA used as a business enabler (i.e., the study examines effects of DA on the business or some business activity or function) or research enabler (i.e., DA methods are employed to conduct the study)? (3) was theory tested, developed, or left out?
