Chemistry seminar review paper

The Review Paper The review paper is usually divided into a number of sub-topics. Although sub-titles depend upon specifics of the subject matter, all review papers submitted for this seminar course must have an introduction, a body and a conclusion section. In writing the paper the American Chemical Society′s (ACS) recommendations on style and reference citations should be followed. For example, see the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Chemical Reviews and Accounts of Chemical Research at the IUS Library. These periodicals are published by the ACS (Appendix I). In addition, an abstract of the paper must be prepared and distributed along with a list of citations. It is exceedingly important that the rules of giving quotations and paraphrasing are clearly understood so that unintended plagiarism is not committed (Appendix II). Ônce the first draft of the paper is completed, it should be presented to the instructor for comments. The instructor will check the basic structure of the whole paper and will comment in detail on the material discussed, both in terms of scientific quality and quality of writing. After completion of the paper, the student is encouraged to visit the IUS Writing Center and ask for a critique and proofreading of the paper. The consultants at the writing center would prefer having the paper one day before meeting with the student to critique the paper. The consultants may have problems understanding the science of the paper but should be able to help with any grammar problems. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the students to write a paper that represents quality writing and science. It has to have 5 parts ( abstract, background, method, result, conclusion)
