Assignment Assignment helpIntroduction and Goals Today we will be using the Tracker software to analyze linear motion. In each video, a cart will be moving in one dimension. There will be landmarks we can use from the video for scale. For each of the videos, available on Canvas, you will download, open, and analyze using tracker. For each of the videos our goal is to: Find an equation to describe the position as a function of time and generate a plot of the data. Find an equation to describe the velocity as a function of time and generate a plot of the data. Analyze the mathematical equation that describes the motion shown in the video. Before starting the lab activity, make sure to review the material for this lab on Canvas. Analysis Each week we will have some analysis of the data we collect. As the semester goes on, this analysis will become increasingly open ended. Follow the analysis steps, if any, and then answer the questions as part of your lab report. Watch the video on error on Canvas. Look at the RMSE, or Root Mean Square Error, of each of your plots. What does this value tell you? Look the data from one of your videos. You should have two graphs: a position versus time and a velocity versus time graph. Presuming your data is good, what do each of the equations, and their values, represent physically? Looking at the same graphs you used in question 2: what does the sign tell you in the position versus time graph? The velocity versus time graph? Under what conditions might these signs change? Looking at the same graphs you used in question 2: is there a way to compare physical measurements between the two graphs? Determine the acceleration for each video from both the position versus time and the velocity versus time equations. Include these values in a table in your final lab report. Based on your results in question 5: what are some circumstances where average velocity and instantaneous velocity take upon different values? Using the handout on calculating error, determine the relative percent error in the acceleration between the position versus time and velocity versus time graphs for each video. You should have four calculations. Suppose you wanted to record your own video and analyze the motion of some object using tracker. What are some challenges that might create error in your analysis? Based on your results, do you feel the mathematical description of one-dimensional position, displacement, velocity, and acceleration (both instantaneous and average) is a good model to describe the motion of the objects in the videos? Please explain in one or two sentences.
