Narrating in Glass.

Gothic architecture develops in part to showcase the newly invented stained glass. Stained glass allowed for the narrative and symbolic decorations of Romanesque portals and manusсrіpts to come inside the church. By piecing together different colors of glass, artists could paint stories into the windows. When light shines through them, the stories come to life and cast rainbow patterns that transform the interior of the church as well, making it even more luxurious and transcendental. For this week’s blog, I’d like you to think about an aspect of your life that you would want to immortalize and narrate in glass. Design a pane for your window that communicates something about your life, history, personality, etc. Fear not, you don’t need to work in glass; the material you use is up to you: you can draw, sculpt, paint, photograph, or create something digital, etc. Embed an image of your windowpane and write a brief explanation of what it represents, how your single pane fits into the larger window, and why you’d like to depict this in glass.
