Thematic Investing within ESG.

Essentially, we are interested whether companies classified under certain thematic fields are expected to generate higher revenue growth in the future than others. The particular datapoints/ themes within ESG I am going to have a look at are the 7 Opportunity scores from MSCI: Clean Tech, Green Building, Renewable Energy, Nutrition and Health, Access to Communications, Access to Healthcare and Access to Finance. Companies are classified to these depending on the percentage of the revenue contribution of their goods and services related to these fields. To answer this question we will be performing panel regressions. In a nutshell, the literature review should shed light on the existing literature, regarding the profitability of overall ESG investing and that in relation to the different thematic datapoints within.
