How can we calculate the height from where a comet or asteroid comes?

The paper is a physics (SL) internal assessment for an IBDiploma Candidate The paper is in the lab report format. Research question: In this investigation, I will change the height from which an object is dropped on a water surface and then record the height of the splashed water. My personal interest in this topic is the 1998 movie ” Deep Impact”.
