In this assignment you will present a summary project proposal (maximum 250 words or ONE page) to develop for your interview assignment (due at the end of Week 10) and final project report (due on weeks 13 to 15)
Answer the following questions Briefly but precisely:
1) Give a working title to your topic: What Story do you want to tell?
2) Who do you want to interview? (Key informant/ Human Rights Defender/ Community member)
Provide name/pseudonym and a brief reference for the person
The requirement that the interview is live is WAIVED due to concerns with Covid-19. Please consult your professor if you have any questions.
3) Where are they located? (Population/Social & Geographic pace)
Provide a brief summary on their context, background, role, and/or position in the community/organization
Provide any online links/ facebook or Twitter accounts, You Tube resources.
4) What kind of interview are you developing (informal/formal interview, narrating a life story/ family story, reporting on your observations of a community event or social movement event, etc)
Include if you are planning to document anything with audio or visually (podcast, photography short video).
5) What is the nature of your relationship with your interviewee? (issues of access: describe how you got access to this person and how you built trust)- What kind of Interview do you plan to conduct? (Access Strategy) If appropriate, you may add a list of 3-6 questions you would like to learn more about while conducting your interview. If appropriate, you may also include a statement to start the conversation, as part of your strategy.
6) What is the story? In the proposal this will be a BRIEF summary so far of what you know (one paragraph)- This will be fully developed in the Interview assignment report (Weeks 13-25), where you will further describe in detail, narrate and quote relevant parts with their own words, this will be drawn from your audio or audio-visual recording of your interview and transcript of relevant parts.
7) The “Resonance” question”: Why is this important- Is anyone listening? (give us indication as to who is resonating with this story, who is the audience or community interested in this story, who is not, why is this story important and for whom)
8) What do you anticipate you will learn from this interview? (this would be your research question)
Try to find at least one point of what you anticipate learning.
Also, what do you anticipate the set of rights, demands and mobilization you will be working on will be? (see Appendix A)
